- New York State Museum is a research-backed institution in Albany, N.Y. It contains different artifacts from the state of New York and has exhibits representing various facts of the state. Some of its exhibits are based on wildlife, 9/11 artifacts and memorial, geological artifacts, rocket car, forestry and logging, subway car, native peoples and wooly mammoth. The museum s gallery of old fire engines comprises artifacts of the 18th century. The gift shop at the museum offers various items for sale, including museum publications, New York State regional books and food products, handicrafts and jewelry. It offers 10 percent discount to members at the shop. Formerly located in the state Education Building, New York State Museum is now in the Cultural Education Center, which also houses the New York State Archives and New York State Library. The museum is open seven days a week.
