Public Works Department is one of the departments of the city of Alhambra in California, and provides community development services. The department performs various responsibilities, including upkeep of city landscaping, and removal of graffiti and hazardous materials from trees, shrubs and walls. It provides maintenance of park grounds and city trees, and its services include abating weeds and maintaining the city's public forest areas. Additionally, the department provides maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, bus shelters, curbs, gutters and pavements. It also ensures workability of traffic signals and traffic control signs. Additionally, it provides research and analyzes traffic safety problems and traffic flow conditions. It also builds and maintains the city s infrastructure, vehicle fleets and equipment. Additionally, it develops plans for the future transportation needs of the city. It is also responsible for a variety of administrative and managerial functions related to planning reviews, civil engineering, and surveying and inspection.
