I personally use Dr. Gaines as my primary physician. I just love his dry humor. I have had my issues with him but we as patients have to let everything be Known to our doctor's and if we don't agree with what their solution to our problem we have to let it be known and if it can't be settled, ASK FOR A REFERRAL!!! I will go to Cares any day over the emergency room!!! I saw where someone said that they hated Dr. Gaines but he has been pretty darn good to me and if I didn't like something, I let it be known and we worked it out!!!

I went into Oxford C.A.R.E.S today for a medicine refill and to get a note stating that meds were being prescribed for my diabetes. I am unemployed and therefore paying with cash. The nurse was very condescending and told me I would have to have lab work before any note could be written. I explained to her that I was paying cash and just needed a note for possible employer that meds were being prescribed for my diabetes. She rudely insisted that I have the lab work or no note would be given. I told her that I should be discussing this with the doctor instead of her and she became indignant and red in the face. She left the room and I realized that the CARES doctor was not going to help me unless I paid for blood work when all he really needed was a finger prick to see my blood sugar level. 04/08/2015

Ok, it's important to note that this review is about the Cares in Oxford (not Anniston.) My wife went in today (Sun.) because she had been feeling bad for several days. Apparently there were too many people there for the young girl working up front. My wife and the other patients waiting know this because the girl was talking very loudly and rude with the window open about there being 34 people there and she just wanted to go home. Now I'm sure that all of those people did NOT want to be sitting in a doctors office waiting to be seen on a Sunday afternoon. I'm just guessing that it wasn't their first choice of things that they wanted to do. She on the other hand was at least getting paid for it!! These rude public service workers really get on my nerves. I feel that people like this should absolutely be humbled meaning that maybe they should be without work for a little while! So my response to the young girl's attitude earlier today is this, PLEASE by all means (go home) trust me we would rather not have to deal with you either. Maybe somebody else can take your headache or job for you that is a little more pleasant to deal with!

Dr.Gaines is absolutely AWFUL. SAVE your money and find a real Dr that actually cares about his patients. Rude workers and awful Dr.s.
