      The Texas Medical Board works to protect and enhance the public s health, safety and welfare by establishing and maintaining the standards of excellence used in regulating the practice of medicine and ensuring health care for the citizens of Texas through licensure, discipline and education. It also serves as staff for the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners and the Texas Physician Assistant Board. The board is responsible for the licensure and discipline of Texas physicians. With an office in Austin, the Texas Medical Board performs duties related to interviewing licensure candidates, considering disciplinary matters and adopting substantive and procedural rules. It also provides online registration, reports and statistics.
