Considered a Jefferson County School? I live within Blocks of the school but 2 blocks to far from the zoning cut off so I have to send my children to a school they must ride a bus to when they could in fact walk to Spain park??? One of my children now has to go to alternative school for 36 days to make up a class yet they want to send her to Alabaster because we live outside the "Spain Park" zone and they in fact have Alternative School right there blocks from my home. So, I have NO CAR, and NO WAY to get my child to school and that is ok with the "Board of Education over a couple of blocks on a zone... WHY?? Is my Childs right to an education now simply because of a couple blocks!!???? The Topper is they claim it is a "Federal Offense to let someone outside the zone in HOWEVER on the Application for school you can read: Have Out-of-Zone Attendance Approval? Why is that even listed there if there if it is a "FEDERAL OFFENSE"? I was told by the ALABAMA STATE SCHOOL BOARD it is up to the individual county or school to allow a student in who is outside the zone. It seems to me there are a few people working for the "Board of Education" who are on a POWER TRIP because LAW in FACT states:

Any student is allowed to apply for Public School outside schools zones if the following applies;

a) Transportation is unavailable for current school zone for that student.

b) Student suffers from racial discrimination at the school zoned for their county

c) Your home is in the school zone and your living in a temporary home due to remodeling, moving or new construction of your home.



Mine falls in the NO TRANSPORTATION yes I am pretty upset!!
