Cary Public Works and Utilities Department, Cary, N.C., has a wide range of responsibilities, including water and wastewater treatment, solid waste collection, conservation programs, and maintenance of town streets, parks, buildings and vehicles. The customer service staff normally handles calls on weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. During severe weather such as ice storms or hurricanes, crews are on duty around-the-clock. A telephone number is provided to residents for sewer backups, water leaks, grease spills, pothole repair, dead animal collection, water meter installation and other requests for service. Other services include curbside collection of garbage, recyclable materials, yard waste and leaves.
