My daughter and her friend ate there on Monday night 7/13/09 and each ate something different. They both became severely ill that night with norovirus (most commonly caused the food preparer not washing their hands after a bathroom visit).Needless to say they will not eat there again.I was forced to give a rating but it should not get a star at all.

delicious, creative, inventive sushi rolls. The chef takes a lot of liberty in creating mouthwatering combinations that are not found elsewhere. Sushi is made fresh right in front of you and service is very friendly.

This place used to be another thai/japanese hybrid restaurant called red parrot i believe. Although similar in menu, the prices at cha ya are more expensive by a dollar or two and are otherwise similar in nature. The sushi, which looked good on the menu, turned out to be slightly below par in my opinion, some of the fish was either soggy or freezer burned, as if it had been frozen and thawed before serving. Most sushi restaurants do this to some extent, but this is obviously not a sign of quality. As for the service, a group of 4 of us decided to try it out together. The waiters were not very attentive and did not ask us how we were doing or whether our selections were adequate. Also, there were spent beer bottles all around the entrance. All in all, if you live near by, it is an "adequate" place to eat, if your only going for their cooked selections or lunch specials. Otherwise, if your looking for high quality food or precision made sushi, I suggest someplace else.
