The day we moved to Cranston (1983) we needed miscellaneous "stuff" for our new house. The real estate agent suggested Durfey's. "If they don't have it, you don't need it" he said. He was absolutely correct. It's not full of useless clutter. One thing it *is* full of is knowledgeable and helpful staff who seem to know where even the oddest part can be found, backed with generations of Durfey pride. Not "big box"... Wonderfully "small box"!

It is always a joy to shop at Durfee's.. This is an old fashioned hardware store that has been in business at the same location since 1930. I love the creaking wood floors and the tin ceiling. If they don't have it at Durfee's you probably don't need it! Great service and an extremely friendly atmosphere. There are very few places left where you can meet friends and neighbors. Very highly recommended!

This Place is The Best! A young man took the time to explain the various types of glues and epoxies to me so that I could make the right choice for repair of a piece of furniture I had been wrangling with for years! They do not have many places like this so take advantage of it Rhode Island! Seriously, this hardware store is a treasure!

I would not take my screens there ever again. My mother dropped off her window screens April 4th and here we are on April 17th and they are still not done. Should be done tomorrow. They tell people to give them a week but now because they had people out they are now behind. I called last Friday and had a rude associate who did not care. Now I have to find another store to repair my screens in a different neighborhood instead of going to my neighborhood hardware store.
