- Denver Regional Council of Governments provides regional cooperation between more than 50 county and municipal governments in the Denver metropolitan area. It serves as the region's Area Agency on Aging, and plans and coordinates services to older adults. It prepares and adopts a regional plan that provides policies to guide where, how much and when growth and development occur in the region. It also serves as the transportation planning region in developing plans for the mountains and plains areas. It provides services, such as traffic signal coordination, travel forecasting, carpool and vanpool matching, teleworking assistance, and alternative transportation promotion. It oversees all regional water quality issues, including watershed quality trends, standards and classifications, wastewater treatment and disposal practices, groundwater quality, recharge zones and land use patterns.
