      Located in Franklin, Tenn., the Franklin Special School District, also known as FSSD, is an educational agency that operates various elementary schools, intermediate and middle schools. The district serves more than 3,900 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Its programs focus on personalized instruction customized to meet each student's individual needs. Founded in 1906, the district s schools offer educational programs in music, language arts, math, English, science, social studies, physical education and computer technology. In addition, the Franklin Special School District operates libraries that provide a range of books and instructional materials. Its schools offer tutoring, mentoring and homework assistance services. The district offers scholarships and health screening and meal services. The Franklin Special School District s schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.
