- MRIIf you have saline implants, you can typically tell if it has ruptured by a sudden change in breast appearances, such as size or symmetry. If you think your implant may have ruptured, call your surgeon immediately, as it will need to be surgically removed. Silicone gel implant leakage may be silent.It can show up on imaging studies such as mammography, ultrasound, or MRI. Or it may progress to capsular contracture.
