The Madison County Water Department maintains more than 1,100 miles of waterlines in rural Madison County, Ala. It pumps more than 190 million gallons of water monthly to over 23,000 customers and residents. Madison County's primary source of water comes from wells located at New Market, Hazel Green and Bo Howard and is stored in more than 10 water tanks. The county has various other departments, including public works, utilities, transportation, parks and recreation, police, fire, finance and waste control. Its building construction department builds buildings and desks. Additionally, it also offers a wide range of services for its residents, including emergency management, issuing burn permits, real estate appraisal, tax collection, animal control, conducting elections and economic development.
