As of July 2012......If I have to go to a Nursing home, I would like My Sisters room It has free TV with Cable, and a free Phone and we have fixed it up with Objects... Pictures and small bookcase and even a Recliner..... Big Bathroom, big enough for her scooter.. Food is not great, but heck, It is what it is... What it was like before, I have no idea, >

I was a little worried about the reviews here, but after touring the facility and the secure unit in particular, I was very impressed. There have been major renovations and even though they are still doing construction in one hall, the resident areas are well kept. I have smelled urine in the secure unit, but that's part of being in a nursing home with patients that don't know to use the toilet. The staff are quick to clean up the mess and the smell is always gone before I leave. Before you judge a place based on a review or one persons experience, you need to take the time to look for yourself. If I had just passed Ashford up based on the reviews here, my mom might have been admitted to one of the other homes that I've toured. I'm so glad that I took the time to look for myself.

This building stinks of urine and stool. I would never put a loved one in this place, they do not have enough staff to provide care.

Would not recommend this place to any loved one needing assisted living.

My mother in law was admitted in January. There have been six life threatening incidents. The ceiling above her bed fell (due to a leaky roof) three times, luckily she was in therapy the first two times. When it fell the third time she was in bed & it fell on her head. She spent 4 hours in a soaking wet bed & clothes before anyone would get her changed. They put her in a janitorial closet for two days while the roof was being fixed. One day she was experiencing shortness of breath & chest pains. She has called the nurse 20 min before my husband came by to visit her. He walked in - saw the distress she was in & yelled down the hall for some help. She had a heart attack. The second time she had a massive heart attack, they didn't even bother to call any of the family to inform us she had been taken to the hospital. Recently, she was wheeled into the dining room, left unattended, slipped out of her chair falling onto the floor. She can not support herself due to paralysis
