I visited Dr. Scully's office in January 2011 due to severe pain in both of my hips. Although I had two sets of X-rays (one from 2005 and another one from 2010) the radiologists who had reviewed those X-rays had not been able to determine why I had hip pain and never indicated that I had degenerative arthritis (I have to give a low score to those two radiologists ... they must not have spent much time looking at the X-rays). Dr. Sean Scully immediately - with one look at the X-ray from 2010 - determined that I had degenerative arthritis and actually pointed out the areas on the X-ray that told him so. Great, he involves his patient in such medical explanations - you won't find that everywhere. He was very professional, listened to me and answered to my concerns. Gave me time to digest and come to grips with the diagnosis of arthritis at a relatively young age. No arrogance whatsoever was displayed. I asked whether physical therapy would be a treatment option. He immediately told me that - if I wanted to try that - he would be all for it. The physical therapy sessions (which I continued on my own and on a regular/daily basis after the six sessions with the therapist) helped me a lot to deal with the pain and maintain some flexibility. I came to a point where I did not have to take any pain medication any more for over six months. Unfortunately, arthritis is not reversible and eventually I will have to have hip replacement surgery or whatever the orthopedic surgeon recommends. I will definitely select Dr. Scully as my surgeon - when time comes - because he is professional, honest and open to the patient, listens to the patient and tries to answer all questions.

This place is a joke! Both doctors, Scully and Metts are rude and very unprofessional. My elderly parent had major surgery by another doctor who sold his practice and moved. Onslow Memorial bought his practice (and owns ECOC) and assumed the aftercare for my parent. My parent has been twice for follow up care, has yet to be x-rayed again, is experiencing pain and swelling and was treated like a nuisance. Neither doctor gave us the time of day, much less seemed concerned about how the patient was...
