- Child AbuseOur attorneys have been by our client’s side on the absolute worst day of their lives. Whether it be when Tim Dollar prosecuted and put the father of Erica Green, better known as Precious Doe, behind bars for life. Or when Jill Kanatzar successfully prosecuted one of the numerous jury trials surrounding child abuse she has overseen. Or when Lauren Dollar, skillfully lead a mother through describing the abuse her two little girls had endured. Our attorneys have seen and handled it all.
- Criminal DefenseSexual assault and abuse often happens to people who cannot protect themselves such as children, the elderly and the disabled. Perpetrators see them as easy targets because they are either too young, too old or too disabled, to fight back or report the crime. During their time as Assistant Prosecutors in Jackson County, Missouri, our partners, Jill Kanatzar and Lauren Dollar, came face to face with such perpetrators and used the criminal law to obtain justice. It was in this position Jill and Lauren found their callings to be the voice of victims.

- Traffic ViolationsEighteen-year-old Noah Leake was driving on I-70 at the Benton Curve in Kansas City, Mo. on his way to work at the family business. The driver of a tractor-trailer owned and operated by Gainey Transportation Services, Inc. drove too fast around the curve and lost control of his truck. The fully loaded trailer landed squarely on top of Noah’s car. Noah was pinned underneath the trailer and a fire erupted. Noah may have survived his injuries but instead died of smoke inhalation. It was later learned that the truck driver had no fewer than 10 prior speeding convictions.
- Sex CrimesWhile representing the State of Missouri, Jill tried sexual assault and abuse cases including forcible rape and sodomy, statutory rape and sodomy and sexual assault. She has witnessed the strength survivors maintain and helped victims from an 89-year-old woman violently raped in her own home by an intruder to a 9-month-old child molested by a caregiver.
- AssaultTwo of Lauren’s cases in particular – a domestic assault trial with an 11-year-old witness and a child molestation sentencing – inspired her to be the voice of sexual abuse victims with our firm. After directing the 11-year-old witness to recount the abuse she witnessed her mother suffer in that one case, and then questioning the mother of two young girls who had been molested in another, Lauren knew she had to fight to protect those who cannot always protect themselves.
- MurderLauren has also tried a double murder trial where she gave the opening statement during the guilt phase of the trial and the opening and closing statements during the sentencing phase of the trial, cross examined defense witnesses, laid the ground work for the prosecution’s expert witnesses, and handled the explanation of evidence. The trial ended with the guilty party being sentenced to time in prison.
- HomicideOn Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, assistant foreman John Fletcher was supervising repairs on a bridge deck in Toledo, Ohio. Despite two lanes being closed to traffic, multiple warning signs, cones and flashing lights, a large tanker truck owned by Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) plowed through traffic cones, three trucks and repair equipment, slamming into Fletcher and two other turnpike workers who were standing on the roadway. Fletcher was the lone fatality, while the other men were seriously injured. The negligent driver of the truck, who claimed to have no memory of the crash, later pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and was sentenced to jail time and license suspension. Fletcher is survived by his wife, Amy, and three young children.
