I live in Texas now used Dr. Somers last summer and will continue to use him. I loved the service and the professional job I received. Loved the staff and service I received.

I am surprised by the previous comment. I encountered both great staff and service. I went to three different eye centers before deciding to have LASIK done with Dr. Somers. He spoke with me at length following my initial exam. His staff was thorough and friendly.



The surgery was just as explained. Dr. Somers also provided follow-up instructions to me with my husband present to ensure I would not for miss any information. He gave both his home and cell number in case I needed anything following surgery.



Medical care exceeded expectations. I would recommend my family and closest friends to Dr. Somers.

I was a patient of Dr. Somers ...

I was a patient of Dr. Somers for 3 years and after a recent visit, I will not go back and I certainly will not recommend him. I have a very complicated history (many eye surgeries, vision therapy, glasses, patches, you name it) and after relocating to KC from across the country, I was forced to find a new ophthalmologist. I submitted my medical file to Dr. Somers, personally walked him through my history and scheduled a series of annual check-ups. I never felt a positive connection, but passed it off to high-expectations. At the end of my third (and last) appointment, he asked questions that made his unfamiliarity with my case shocking. He was unprepared for my visit (even though this appointment had been on calendar for over a year) and asked questions about my condition that we already discussed and were in a file right in front of him. (Isn’t the whole point of these check-ups to compare past with present and plan for future? How do you plan on doing that without knowing my case.) I should have trusted my instincts years ago when I felt a lack of engagement/enthusiasm and would encourage anyone (especially parents of pediatric patients) to find someone with a greater attention to detail and a proactive approach.

Dear Anonpatient, I'm sorry you did not have a positive experience. I do my best to meet expectations, but unfortunately I obviously was not at my best in our interaction. I'm sure you are correct in the fact that the questions I was asking you were in your file, so forgive me for asking them again.
