Excellent instruction and a welcoming communityI have been a student at The Academy of Modern Martial Arts for seven years. The training and support I have gained have immeasurable value to my life, whether at work, home or at school. My ability to handle my workload as a full time college student has been greatly enhanced by the skills I have learned as a martial artist. My instructors are caring and competent; the community that they have created is welcoming and genuinely cares about the well-being of every student.The school is affordable and conveniently located in downtown Lake Oswego in the Lake Place shopping center behind Petco. Class offerings range from Tai Chi, and Karate to Grappling (Mixed Martial Arts) and Kick-boxing; most classes are in the evening with some day time and Saturday classes. Private instruction is also offered at various times. I highly recommend AMMA and it?s instructors to everyone.

I have been a student at the Academy of Modern Martial Arts (AMMA) for nearly 7 years and as a result of my time spent studying at AMMA, the quality of my life has greatly increased. I can say without a doubt, that my time spent there has enhanced my capabilities as a martial artist, and human being. My instructor, Chris Boyer is one of the finest people I have come into contact with. I would recommend him as an instructor to anyone who would like to learn martial arts. He is highly skilled in teaching, and has been studying martial arts for nearly two decades. He?s also just generally a great guy. Sifu Kristine, who teaches children from 4-17 years old, has a way to help kids learn that I think few people possess. I have assisted with some of her classes over the years. And after watching her students grow under her instruction, I highly recommend her as a youth instructor. Excellent school for martial arts training. Extremely knowledgeable instructors offer classes in freestyle karate/kickboxing, tai-chi, jiu-jitsu style grappling, and fitness-focused cardio kickboxing. Class options for wherever your interest lies, for any age and fitness level. I've gained much from my training at AMMA, and not just self-defense skills (though those feel great too!). My training there has helped me succeed in whatever endeavors I do. Highly recommended.
