Dr. Zuleyma Toledo-Nieves is a licensed neurologist. She specializes in the management of medical conditions related to the nervous system such as headaches, seizures, strokes, movement disorders, peripheral neuropathies, and myopathies. Dr. Toledo-Nieves also specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis and inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Dr. Toledo-Nieves earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. She completed her Neurology Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Multiple Sclerosis Clinical Fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa. She cares for patients at the Grasslands Campus. Describe your clinical specialties. As a neurologist, I specialize in the management of medical conditions related to the nervous system such as headaches, seizures, strokes, movement disorders, peripheral neuropathies, and myopathies. I am further sub-specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis and related inflammatory conditions of the central nervous system. What is your patient care philosophy? A proper medical history and physical examination are our greatest tools in helping patients. What would you like people to know about you as a physician/provider? Patients will find that I put a lot of emphasis on their history. Everything is in the details. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I enjoy talking to my patients, explaining the rationale behind each decision we make, and working together to develop a plan moving forward. How does your work improve lives? Finding an explanation for someone's disabling symptoms and finding the most appropriate management improves their overall quality of life. What are some interesting facts about you?
