- CataractsMore than fifty percent of people over the age of 60, as well as some people who are younger, suffer from cataracts. A cataract is a progressive clouding of the eye’s natural lens that interferes with light passing through to the retina. Currently, there is no medical treatment to reverse or prevent cataracts. Once they form, they must be removed and replaced with an intraocular lens (IOL) implant.
- Cataract SurgeryA cataract is a cloudy lens in the eye. A healthy lens is clear and allows light to pass to the back of the eye. A cataract blocks some of the light. The clouding of the lens from the cataract makes it increasingly difficult to see. Dr. Hecht performs many types of vision correction surgeries including cataract surgery.

- Eyelid SurgeryWith age, the skin above and below our upper eyelids begin to droop and sag giving way to an old, tired look. If the eyelids begin sagging too much into the field of vision, surgery may be required. Also, the elasticity of the skin weakens and allows pockets of fat to form. This creates the appearance of puffiness. The lower lids may develop “bags.” With an eyelid surgery called blepharoplasty, Dr. Hecht can help you regain your youthful fresh look.
- BlepharoplastyThe best candidates for blepharoplasty are those who are in good overall health, don’t have any serious eye conditions, and have healthy facial tissue and muscle.
