Dr. Flores was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. As a child he was exposed to the medical field early in life. His father is a physician who is actively practicing internal medicine in Staten Island, New York and his mother is a retired registered nurse. Having grown up in a medically-oriented family, he chose to follow in his father's footsteps and pursued a career in medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While attending Rutgers College he was accepted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. He earned his M.D. degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey where over 7,100 babies are delivered each year and over 6,600 operative procedures are performed each year. During residency alone, Dr. Flores delivered over 1,000 babies including numerous sets of twins, triplets, and even quadruplets! Throughout his residency, he was consistently praised for his surgical skills and was recognized every single year as being the best surgeon in his class of residents. He was complimented on multiple occasions about his laparoscopic surgical skills surpassing even those of the residents above him. Prior to moving to Liberal, Dr. Flores was previously practicing in the state of Louisiana. While working in Louisiana, he was continually commended for his bedside manner and his commitment to his patients. Dr. Flores has been instrumental in shaping the future of women's healthcare in Liberal, Kansas and the surrounding area. Dr. Flores has introduced many firsts in the Liberal area. He was the first and currently only OB/GYN to perform the Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH) procedure. He was the first physician to introduce the use of absorbable staples for use during surgical procedures including Cesarean sections. He was the first physician to introduce the Filshie Clip tubal sterilization procedure. He was the first physician to implement and make available a patient portal that allows patients to contact and communicate with the office through the electronic record system that is being utilized in the office. Dr. Flores is happily married to his wife, Karen, whom he met in Atlanta. They moved to Liberal in the summer of 2010 and are enjoying the comforts of life in Liberal. They have one daughter, Alexandria Marie. Dr. Flores is an active staff member at Southwest Medical Center where he performs all surgical procedures and deliveries.
