My 2012 Altima (mileage of 4400 miles, I purchased the car on 3/22/2012 – so should still be under warranty for still within 3 years of purchase) was worked on for the "transverse link" recall on 3/2/15 by Sheehy Nissan Mechanicsville. After the work, I experienced something really bad in handling of the car on driving the car home. The car lost the alignment and swerved left and right – quite dangerous in the drive. I called the service and made an appointment (3/13/15) to let them look at the problem. After they finished checking the problem, the service manager told me that the recall work “transverse link” have nothing to do with the handling issue. They told me that the car’s alignment is a little off and I need to pay for the alignment work. I said to the service manager that the alignment of the car has been great (firm with traction and did not swerve at all) when I drove the car to the dealership for recall work. The alignment issue appeared when I took the car back and drove it home. The service manager would not agree to do anything unless I pay for the alignment.

I called NissanUSA and addressed them the issue. They said they did the investigation and insisted that I need to pay for the alignment work. They told me that they and the dealership are separate entity. They cannot do anything even if there might be workmanship issue in performing the recall work!!!!

My goal for writing this review is to make car consumers aware of the after-sale service of this dealership (Sheehy Nissan of Mechanicsville) is really questionable. I enjoyed the business relationship with their sales people (I bought two brand new Nissan - 2012 Altima and a 2013 Titan, both as my spare cars), however, I would not deal with them any more with their “lack of common sense” service department. As a result, I will definitely move back to the high-quality Toyota products from this point on.

Where do I even start….Here’s a list

 Purchased brand new Nissan in 2011 along with VIP service

o Was told with VIP service, you can come in anytime for an oil change and be in and out in 30 minutes.

o Free Car Wash at every visit

 Scheduled service appointment for fist oil change

o Waited an hour and a half

o Got car wash

 Had a funny sound with a tire/wheel, called for an appointment

o Waited another hour and a half

o Service department rep says, uh we just think you need a wheel balance

o Me: Ok go ahead and do that and paid over $60

o Driving home, it’s still not right, oh and no car wash

o Drove for a week or more just to make sure I wasn’t imaging things

 Made another appointment

• Service Department says, I need an alignment and something else

• Me: Ok, go ahead (Paid $180 give or take)

• No Car Wash

o Drove for a few weeks, STILL not right

 Made another appointment

 Finally service department rep got tech to ride in car with me

 Tech figures out what’s wrong with it in about 30 seconds

 What’s wrong with it is covered under warranty

 So I’ve spent almost $300 on things that didn’t need to be done

 I complain about this and the fact that I’ve only gotten 1 car wash

 Promise me 2 fill ups and a full detail on my car to make up for the money I spent (would not refund it)

• Got one fill up

• The detail job was a joke, didn’t even vacuum the back of the car only front seats and floor. Then parked it under a tree with some kind of red berries falling off it…car a mess before I even left!

 2012 3-4 Oil Changes with appointments during that time, with only 1 car wash. Waits 1-2 hours.

 2013 Purchased husband a car from them along with VIP Service (yeah I know pretty dumb)

 2013 After both husband and I have to keep waiting for over and hour for oil changes, no car washes and several problems with husbands car, I call and complain again.

o Promised a loaner vehicle at EVERY service no matter what it is, so we don’t’ have to wait.

 2013-Present Every time I called to schedule anything it was like pulling teeth to get a loaner, transferred from one person to another without any explanation. Rude, unhelpful people at every turn.

 2 days ago, called because husbands 2013 driver’s door would not open (no reason, just stopped opening).

 Told them we need to drop it off and get a loaner because we can’t drive it like that

o Well this is when all hell broke loose.

o Tina, says oh I know who you are and you were rude to one of my techs.

o I asked to speak to GM after she threatened to talk to GM..

o GM is the biggest D-bag there is. Rude condescending egotistical jerk. He told me that apparently there wasn’t anything they could do to make me happy so he was refunding our VIP cost (prorated of course).

So I say to you, the unsuspecting buyer, go ANYWHERE else. This place is a joke and I’m pretty sure they are the cause of my high blood pressure. We will not only never purchase a vehicle here, but never another Nissan because of the horrible experiences we faced constantly with this place!

Be wary

I wouldn't feel comfortable doing business with this company... called and asked them if they still had a car that I had seen on their website and, without hesitation, I was told yes and that they would pull it down for me to look at. We got there and they didn't have the car. Even if they weren't pulling the old bait and switch tactic, how they handled it was unprofessional and rude. We had purchased a vehicle from this place when it was Victory Nissan and we weren't treated like repeat customers. We were prepared to pay cash for a vehicle and the salesman left us in a room while he stood at the reception desk- looking stupid. We sat there for 15 minutes for him to come back and confirm that they didn't have the car anymore. (The salesman would walk off and dissappear for a while- wouldn't give us any updates as to what they were doing, etc.) My husband asked how it disappeared from the time we called and the time we got there (about 20 minutes) and we were told because "he thought that they still had the car". He should have checked before he told us that they would have it pulled out for us to see- but they didn't care- they just wanted to get us in there to sell us something. Either that or they just didn't really want/need our business. We left and went next door to Mechanicsville Toyota who greeted us- listened to us and found exactly what we needed and we'll be picking up our new car tonight for which we paid cash. Given the other review on here and my experience just yesterday I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone.

repair shop nightmare

We took in our x-terra for repairs, and had to go in 4 times for the same similar issues. Not only did the repair shop blame the issues on different causes, they overcharged us each time. We told them that the issue (flashing lights on the dash and rear) seemed to be related to one single case, but they said we didn't know what we were talking about.

We finally brought our car to a small repair shop off of Broad and Emerywood in West End, and they were able to stop all the issues in one go, and agreed that the cause we had said it was (a uhaul hook up that was poorly wired) correct the whole time.

Nissan also tried to charge us over 1000 dollars to replace the engine belts that go out after 105K. We are college students so we didn't have the money. They said they were sorry but there was nothing they could do. The other repair place did the belts for less than 250!

We went to Nissan because we trusted the name, and thought that the official repair shop would give us good service based on experience and knowledge about their cars. Were we wrong!
