It seemed an honor to be chosen to compete in America's Homecoming Queen pageant but it was very unorganized and unprofessional. Information materials did not arrive in a timely manner. An envelope with interview instructions and sample questions actually arrived the day AFTER the pageant. When calling the offices for more information I was made to feel that my questions were ridiculous. There were 2 prices for the dinner and luncheon with no reason for the differences.The actual pageant didn't seem to have been planned very well. The organizers were rushing around in plain view of the spectators right up until dinner started. The outgoing State Homecoming Queen sat on the end of the runway platform playing with her Blackberry during the intermission. The intermission was about an hour long while results were tabulated and the audience was told it would be a "short intermission". In retrospect, I would not recommend participation. Very expensive if family attends.
