My husband handled the taxes last year with Penigar so we decided to drive 2 hours to see him again this year. I made an appointment for 1:30, I didn't get seen until 3:30. Once I finally got sent back, penigar wasn't at his desk he was at the desk next door and I could hear him going on and on about all his Ex-Wives, red flag #1. Then he finally gets over to me, he sits down and I begin to speak; a man walks into our room and Penigar excuses himself, another 15 min of waiting, I'm getting irritated at this point, looking around at ten different signs that say no phone calls during taxes. I assumed this was to keep production flowing, but so far I've only seen Penigar slowing production. He finally gets back and begins. He is already pretty intimidating because of his straight forward questions but add the rudeness and I was on the brink of tears. He asked me a question and I guessed, while he was looking at another W-2 I texted my husband under the desk to confirm the number, he replied right away, and Penigar didn't even notice bc I wasn't rude about it. Remember, I'm young and this my first complicated tax return bc it is involving the military. He asked me how much we paid in registration, I said my husband pays reg, I can go look outside or text him nd let you know in a second, he began to yell that I cannot use my cell phone, I yelled back that if it is important I'm not just going to guess, and he shouldn't be so rude, and that I have already texted him without him being interrupted or slowed down, he continued to yell about the phone and I told him that I can easily take my business elsewhere, he stated "Go Ahead" and handed me my paperwork! I could not believe how I was treated! The assistant came outside after; I was in the parking lot crying to my husband because I had already wasted 5 hours of my life in that stupid, smelly, ugly office. She apologized on his behalf, very nice lady, and blamed it on the fact that he hadn't eaten anything. So after my husband calling and some coaxing by the assistant, I went back in figuring if he needed anything else I can fax it to him. Well he went back to work with food in the corner of his mouth(drove me crazy). My husband is due money from the Marine Corps and Penigar couldn't figure out the numbers right there, so he said he would work on it in the morning and call to let us know what he figured out. I let them know we live in SD and wanted to know if we were going to have to drive all the way back, the assistant stated No you will not have to come back. A week passes, my husband attempts to speak with him 5 times during that week with no success. Friday 7:45 pm we get a call from the RECEPTIONIST that is highly unqualified, saying that we need to come in and sign some papers. My husband asks what happened with our filing, she says he completed it already, he asks what happened, she has no idea. He states that we are not around the corner, then I hear him say "I don't know, you called me!" Lol anyways so he left at 7am this morning to drive down there, we will see what time I get my husband back and how angry he is going to be when he gets back.
