Founded in 2001, Skin Solutions Dermatology specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the hair, skin and nails. In the spring of 2009, Dr. Pena opened Pena MD Studio to meet the needs of her cosmetic patients.

General Info

Julie Pena, M.D., is a magna cum laude graduate of The University of Michigan where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She received her Medical Degree at Northwestern University School of Medicine. Dr. Pena completed pathology and dermatology residency programs at The University of Florida College of Medicine and at Southern Illinois University, respectively, along with a one-year internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University School of Medicine. During her dermatology residency, she completed additional surgical training under the direction of Mohs Micrographic surgeon Dr. Robert Buzzell. Dr. Julie Pena currently practices from Franklin, Nashville West and Columbia. JoEllyn Dyson, BSN, PA-C, is a Board Certified Physician Assistant she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. She immediately began her nursing education and received a B.S.N. Degree from Houston Baptist University in Houston, Texas in 1980. She graduated from Nazarene University in 1996 with a Physician Assistant degree. She has also obtained her P.A.L.L.E.T.T.E. Training- Level III from Allergan. JoEllyn currently practices from our Franklin office. Walt Sims, MPAS, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant. In 1998, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree (MPAS) with concentration in Dermatology from the University of Nebraska. Prior to being trained in Dermatology, he worked in emergency medicine with the U.S. Army. He has also obtained his P.A.L.L.E.T.T.E. Training- Level III from Allergan. Walt currently practices from our Franklin and Columbia offices. Laura Bauer, PA-C As a certified physician assistant specializing in dermatology, Mrs. Bauer received an undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University and then completed her Masters of Health Science from Duke University in 2007, where she also obtained her Physician Assistant training. Laura currently practices from our Columbia office. Michelle Dobson, MMS, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. Michelle graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1997 and from Midwestern University in 2000. She has also obtained her P.A.L.L.E.T.T.E. Training- Level II from Allergan. Michelle currently practices from our Nashville West office. Jodi Smith, PA-C is a Certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology. Jodi graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2001 and received the academic award of excellence. Jodi brings a strong surgical background and dedication to healthcare. She has also obtained her P.A.L.L.E.T.T.E. Training-Level II from Allergan. Jodi currently assists Dr. Pena in Franklin, Nashville West and Columbia.
