On July 14th I was scheduled to leave King Salmon to my final destination of Chignik Bay. I arrived to the Airport early on the morning of July 14th and checked in at the Grant Ticketing Counter, checked my bags and was told to come back at around 10:30am as we would be leaving at 11:30am. When I checked back in at 10:30am, I was told that we were on a weather delay and to check back in after a half hour. So I did, and was told that we were still on a weather delay. I was told to check back in in a half hour. This went on until 5:00pm when they finally told me that the flight was cancelled. The weather in King Salmon was flyable, and I had reliable resources in Chignik saying that the weather was more than ideal for a flight there, and there were other flights coming and going from King Salmon throughout that day as well. No other information was given to me and every time I did ask for information I was treated rudely by customer service and was never given any other information except to keep checking back in and was even given an I dont know a few times. So I had to sit in the horribly maintained, dirty, disgusting Grant Terminal for 7 hours not able to go eat, or explore the town because I was never given enough information on if or when I would be leaving. I sat in the terminal and watched Grant employees sit, doing nothing, not making an effort to try to fly. I watched service representatives intentionally not answer phone calls (~ 20 during the 7 hours I was there) while surfing the internet and flirting with other employees. Finally at 5:00pm I was given notice that the flight was cancelled and to check back in at 8:00 am the next morning as we would be leaving at 9:00am. There was a few others on this flight that were stuck for the night as well. Do to Grant not giving out enough information throughout the day, by the time we were given confirmation that were stuck in King Salmon for the night, all hotels and lodges were booked 100% full. Luckily I found a nice couple that let me sleep in their spare bedroom. Another young man on the same flight had to sleep in the boiler room of the bank building to stay dry and warm. Another passenger, a young woman, begged and pleaded with a lodge and had to do chores plus cash in order to get a place to sleep. The next morning, I arrived to find another man huddled up under the buildings roof overhang bundled up in every coat he had to stay warm during the night. This is not how an airline should treat their customers. We were thrown out in a small Alaskan village with no resources and feeling like we were just a nuisance for Grant Aviation. Left in a town that we were not familiar with, with no open hotels or lodging, with no place to go. The following morning, we all showed back up to the Grant Terminal at 8:00am like we were told and ended up sitting around until 4:00pm, again with no information and greeted with the same rudeness as the day before. But we finally flew and I finally reached my destination, a day late. But this is not the worst of my experiences with Grant Aviation this trip.My flight out of Chignik was even worse. I was scheduled to leave Chignik on July 29th. A weather system moved in the night prior and I admit that the morning of the 29th was not great for flying. But by 1:00pm that day the storm cleared and the ceiling rose to a flyable 1,500 feet, visibility 10 miles numbers that are more than safe for flying. I called the Grant office in King Salmon hoping for an update. Nothing. No answer on if or when they were going to send a plane. So I waited. I had a connecting flight out of King Salmon at 6pm. I continued to call the King Salmon Grant office (multiple times my calls were not answered). By about 4pm the weather had cleared to 10,000 feet and 20 miles. Now there is no excuse for an airline to not fly. By 5:00pm Grant representatives in King Salmon said they were loading the plane and were going to fly. I called Alaska Air and had my connectin
