About Us Founded by Armand Houle in 1940, Houle's Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning has been providing services to the Greater Waterville area for over 72 years. Armand started out with one business philosophy: "if you do quality work, word of mouth will do the advertising for you". That philosophy has stood the test of time. The one-man, one-truck business of the 1940s grew under the guidance of Armand's son Carroll to include one of the state's first bath showroom, an expanded staff of 30 full-time professionals and 18 service vehicles. Carroll's daughter Kimberly LaMarre, P.E. and son-in-law, Anthony LaMarre, P.E. joined the Company in 1995. Since Carroll's retirement in 2005, Anthony has taken over as President. We take pride in supporting the local community and are grateful to the greater Waterville area for allowing us to service your plumbing, heating and air conditioning needs. Our Services: PLUMBING - We offer 11 licensed plumbers and 7 licensed apprentices to get the job done. Repairs done right If there's a plumbing problem in your home, we'll fix it. From leaky toilets and hot water heaters to clogged pipes, septic problems and low water pressure; we've seen just about everything and know how to repair it all. Installations and new construction. If you're building a new home, remodeling a kitchen or bath, or just installing a new sink or disposal, we can take care of it. As a certified reseller for Moen, Kohler, American Standard, Toto, York and Axmen Anderson, we work with the best. Repining - Some types of plastic piping can cause ongoing maintenance problems and actually lower the value of your home at resale. In these cases, repining is often the best option. We're experts at whole-house repining with as little disturbance to the home as possible. Our team has years of experience handling commercial plumbing needs as well, including: water heaters and boilers, backflow devices, drain clogs (including hydro jetting), pipe replacement, fixtures and appliances of all types and sizes, water and sewer lines, gas lines, grease traps, sand traps, lint traps and sump pumps. Heating and cooling - We offer 15 technicians licensed in oil and gas service and 8 licensed in propane and natural gas to handle the job. Heating Systems - No other single system in your home plays a larger role in your comfort or how much your utility bill will be than your heating system. That's why we specialize in comfortable, cost-effective heating solutions, including furnaces, boilers, and heat pumps. Air Conditioning We can help you maintain and repair the system you have, or replace it completely. As factory-trained technicians, we can provide routine periodic inspections, licensed warranty and post-warranty repairs, and immediate emergency response. Air Quality Indoor air pollution can affect your family's health. We can help supply and install air purifiers and humidifiers, and we're certified in duct system design, installation, and cleaning. HVAC Operations and Maintenance We provide full-service maintenance, with dedicated staff to ensure on-going system maintenance and quick repair. HVAC Installation - We provide full and partial HVAC system replacement, as well as brand new ground-up installations. HVAC Systems Design and Project Management We specialize in retrofitting older buildings with new heating and cooling systems. We'll also take on the installation of systems in new buildings from the ground up. Water and wells - How does your well water taste? Do your bath faucets and fixtures show a powdery scale or orange stain? At Houle's we can test your water mineral content on-site and design and install a conditioning system that's right for you. As a long time customer, spending literally tens of thousands of dollars on multiple properties, I ended my relationship with Houles because of their disregard for customer service and lack of warranty support of their parts and craftsmanship. My first and only complaint was about a mere $133 bill. Last fall plumbing was installed which ultimately failed this spring. During a service call to repair the plumbing issue, the technician never indicated there was a cost associated to correct the problem. Weeks later, without notice, I received an email with a statement requesting payment. Confused, I responded that I believed that should not be chargeable because there appeared to be a problem with the craftsmanship. My email was forwarded to the service manager to which was answered with terse, accusatory language. The service manager, Randy, blindly assumed the problem was because of my own misuse, without speaking to me nor personally making a house call to investigate the matter.In my disbelief I wrote to the company's president, Anthony, and included a check to shore up and finalize my account. Anthony was also quick to respond by reinforcing his service manager's blind opinion, and stated that it must have been caused by my own misuse. As a feeble attempt to rectify the matter, he offered settling the service call at half price, as long as I called his billing office for this arrangement.Clearly he missed the point.The company is fine when they are making money. However, when its time to support their work, it has been made clear that they will turn on even the most loyal customers.

Called for a plugged sewer line. Technicians failed to clear the plug and Houles still charged me $187 for the poor service. I rented a machine and cleared it myself for $35. Will not use them again.

I had minor problems with my oil furnace in December. they had to come back twice through out the month, and each time it was a different technician with a different explanation. 1000 dollars later, I made it through the rest of the winter....expensive and unacceptable service.

i called them at 12am they came knew what was wrong in and out in less than an hour bill was a lot less then i thought it would be
