General Info

I am a graduate of Harvard College, the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences, Harvard Medical School. While a med student, I completed a year of research training in transplant immunology. After two years of surgical training, I was a resident in ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary before completing my formal training at the University of California, San Francisco,. I joined the staff at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in the fall of 1983.
