General Info
I am a NY licensed psychologist with an independent practice conveniently located in the Midtown East Area of Manhattan, in walking distance to Grand Central and Penn Station. I provide consultations and therapy to teens and adults presenting with a variety of concerns.I have extensive professional and teaching experience within New York City and NY metro based teaching hospitals. This experience has allowed me the opportunity to receive ongoing, state-of-the art training and hands on experience working with a wide range of presenting concerns among a diverse client base. I strongly believe that people have the capacity to change aspects of their lives that are not working for them and deserve the opportunity to do so. Change may include addressing problematic feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and/or patterns that leave you feeling stuck or dissatisfied. Or change may involve learning to cope with the unpredictable and often overwhelming challenges life presents. Making the choice to change or improve your life does not necessarily translate into knowing how to accomplish these goals. Therapy can play a pivotal role in providing the nonjudgmental support, the opportunity for self-understanding, and the guidance in developing the effective strategies that are often needed to make change a reality. For the past 10 years, I have successfully worked with teens and adult clients to better their lives. I recognize and respect that therapy is a choice and that each individual may be seeking or needing different approaches to address their concerns. I have a strong foundation in insight-oriented, psychodymanic therapy and view the therapeutic relationship as a key component in developing understanding about oneself and how you relate to those within your life. However, I have also attained extensive training and experience in shorter-term treatments, utilizing cognitive-behavioral (CBT), dialectical behavioral techniques (DBT), and mindfulness techniques that have been proven efficacious in addressing a number of presenting concerns (i.e. anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress management, pain management, self-esteem issues, etc). I have found this integration of approaches to be particularly effective in providing successful outcomes for my clients. Making the choice to engage in therapy is a brave and meaningful step towards the possibility for change. It is important to find the best therapist fit for you and your needs. I will work with you to determine if I am the right therapist for you, and if so, how we can actively and collaboratively work together to address your needs.
