Founded in 1954, Mount Vernon School provides learning opportunities to students in pre-kindergarten through grade eight. The school enrolls more than 950 students annually. Its academic curriculum includes classes in math, science, arts, literacy and foreign languages. Mount Vernon School also has a parent-teacher association that encourages parental involvement in children s education. In addition, the school has a library and media center that offers a range of books and instructional materials. It conducts classes for instrumental and vocal music and chorus. Mount Vernon School is located in Newark, N.J. The school is a part of the Newark Public Schools, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools.
