- AntsOne feature that distinguishes ants from other insects is its elbowed antennae. The first segment is called the scape and the remaining segments are collectively called the funicle. The pinched waist of an aunt is called the pedicel, a constricted area where you find the nodes (petioles) used to distinguish between different species of ants. The front wings of swarmer’s are longer and wider than the hind wings.

- TermitesAt Good News Pest Solutions we love to share good news with our customers. Since 1989, Good News has provided termite inspections for real estate transactions (WDO reports) with excellence. Although many pest control companies avoid WDO’s because of perceived liability, inherent hassles, and a low return on investment, Good News considers a WDO inspection as an opportunity to share Good News. Our news is good whether or not the inspection reveals termites in your home. If we find termites, we have Good News! The seller will usually pay for treatment and the buyer remains protected through an ongoing warranty. If we don’t find termites, that’s Good News, and we offer to protect your home from potential future termite damage.
- Bed BugsBed bugs (Cimex lectularius) are a parasitic insect that is typically found in the home, and embeds themselves in the crevices of furniture. Specifically, the common bed bug prefers furniture where people sleep hence their name “bed bugs”. They are known to be most active at night (although they aren’t nocturnally exclusive), and known for their nocturnal activities of feeding on their hosts. This is one trait which gives bed bugs an opportunity to feed on their host(s) without being noticed.
- FleasVacuum or walk through any areas previously infested every day if possible for the next two weeks, as this stimulates the emergence of fleas from pupae and quickly exposes them to the residual treatment. No treatment penetrates the eggs or pupae stages, so this is very important. Remember to discard the bags properly. Please understand that if a home is vacant, fleas will sit in waiting for months until a potential host comes along. It is very common to see activity when you or your housekeepers return in this situation.
- CockroachesThere are over 3500 species of cockroaches in the world. Approximately 69 species are found in the U.S. and fortunately only a handful are considered to be pests. Their existence dates back 350 million years. Most of the structure infesting species originated in Africa or Asia.

- BeesAnts belong to the order Hymenoptera, which is the same family as wasps and bees. They are social insects, which mean they live in colonies with a caste system. Adult ants will fall in either one of three categories: workers (sterile females), reproductive females (queens), or reproductive males. The immature stages – egg, larvae and pupa – are referred to as the brood and are also found inside the nest. A colony that has only one queen in referred to as ‘monogene’ and a colony that has more than one queen is ‘polygene’.

- TicksOnce the pet is treated, do not bathe the pet with shampoos that contain soaps as these wash off the pet’s natural oils. Choose a natural cleaning remedy such as oatmeal based cleansers. Your veterinarian can recommend products for use as many common tick treatments applied directly to the pet are spread across the skin via the pet’s natural oils and removing those oils renders the treatment ineffective. We recommend cleaning the pet no more than once per month. Bathing is not a concern with pets that are treated systemically via oral pills.
- MosquitoesAt the heart of our natural, 100% DEET-Free Mosquito Protection Program is MosquitoPaq, a revolutionary, non-toxic formulation that is perfectly safe for people and pets. When the organic materials contained in the 2 pouches inside are combined, the resulting solution emits a scent that attracts female mosquitoes.

- Stink BugsThe nickname stink bug comes from its defense mechanism of spraying an oily smelly secretion from a gland on the underside of its abdomen.
- Springtails
- AphidsWhitefooted ants like sweet liquid and will tend aphids and other honeydew producers. Whitefooted ant workers are fed trophic eggs that are produced by all females so there is no trophallaxis occurring in the nest. This is a main reason why baits alone will not affect the entire nest.
- Gnats
- Palmetto BugsIt is nicknamed the palmetto bug, water bug, and Bombay canary. It is one of the most common roaches on ships. It is commonly found in sewers and basements especially around pipes.
