- General MovingWhen determining costs for intrastate relocations, moving companies must legally comply with the MPSC tariff – an official schedule containing rates, charges, fuel surcharges, rules, and regulations, pertaining to the movement of household goods. Accordingly, all costs for move transportation, fuel surcharge, warehouse storage, released or replacement value protection, and special provisions are tariff based. Special provisions, such as labor and materials for packing of household goods, and additional stops for pickups and deliveries beyond the origin and destination locations, are also tariff based. Customer requested accessorial services, such as third-party appliance disconnect and reconnect, and clock and piano preparation, are not tariff-based, and can be coordinated by moving companies for an additional charge. Customers requesting intrastate estimates from more than one licensed moving company in Michigan, should receive equivalent estimates for equivalent tariffed-based services.
