Parunyou Julayanont, MD, is a behavioral neurologist in the Alzheimer’s and Memory Disorders Program and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and subspecialty certified in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties. Dr. Julayanont specializes in diagnosing and treating dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, Parkinson’s disease with dementia, frontotemporal dementia, posterior cortical atrophy, and primary progressive aphasia. Dr. Julayanont’s expertise also includes evaluating and treating cognitive and neuropsychiatric disturbances in patients with neurological disorders. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. Dr. Julayanont received his medical degree from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. He completed his neurology residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock and a clinical fellowship in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. Dr. Julayanont’s research interests include the behavioral neurology of dementia and the interface between behavioral neurology and movement disorders. In addition, he is an investigator in many clinical trials and longitudinal studies on Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases at Barrow.
