Life sWork of Western PA is a United Way-affiliated nonprofit organization assisting individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. It provides opportunity, employment and independence to more than 2,000 individuals. The organization serves adults, youth, single parents and people transitioning off public assistance. It provides employment programs and career preparation services, including jobs, support in current jobs, and job training, retention and career advancement services. It offers various programs, such as project career connections, welfare-to-work, project choice and project match. Life sWork of Western PA was established in 1927 and is located in Pittsburgh. It received the U.S. Department of Labor s 2004 Exemplary Public Interest Contribution Award in 2005.
