For more than 80 years Adidas-Salomon AG, also known as the Adidas Group, has been part of the world of sports on every level, delivering sports footwear, apparel and accessories. The Adidas Group is one of the leaders throughout the world in the sporting goods industry and provides a variety of products. Products from the Adidas Group are available in nearly every country throughout the world and include footwear, apparel and hardware. Activities of the company and its more than 80 subsidiaries are directed from the group's headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany. Also located in Herzogenaurach are the strategic business units for running, soccer and tennis, in addition to the research and development center. Other key corporate units are based in Portland, Ore., in the USA, the domicile of Adidas America and home to the strategic business units basketball, adventure and alternative sports. Adidas America is headquartered in Portland, where it employs nearly 1,000 people.
