With all due respect, Rene is ...

With all due respect, Rene is a liar and not very smart. I am regulated an adhere to the rules and laws mandated to me by the medical board and the Oregon health licensing agency, I change my gloves in accordance to their standards in order to prevent cross contamination. Anything I touch or handle during a procedure is sterilized with an FDA approved high level maticide, or is an autoclave sterilized and/or single use item and I change my gloves a lot to say the least. I know it may be easier to blame someone else rather than take accountability, but that is not right nor valid. I tattooed other people that very same day, and none got any sort of infection, or even remotely around this time. In fact, I personally even got tattooed by the shop owner that very same night and healed perfectly. If I am so unsanitary, wouldn't I get some sort of infection? Staph and MRSA are everywhere, as I explained to Rene a few times as I was explaining the healing method. People get infections by being dirty, and not following healing instructions, and that's why we have everyone sign a liability release. I am not responsible for your stupid decisions after you leave the shop. Anyone who believes these one sided reviews by unsanitary people, I don't want your business, everyone else can look at my portfolio and decide for yourself. Thank you for reading and considering common sense.

This isn't a favorable review, which saddens me, but I feel obligated to share my experience.

I was tattooed by Emily Kay, on April 8, 2014. Emily was nice, and a great artist, really. BUT very lax with sanitation and sterile practices. While tattooing me, she touched several unsterile objects, chairs, pens, drawers and items in them, as well as lifting the plastic on her machine and tinkering with it. She never changed into clean gloves. I'm a shy person, so I just cringed at it, but assumed I'd be fine, she had applied a Bandaid antiseptic a few times.

I was tattooed Tuesday afternoon, and was in great pain less than 8hrs later. I was admitted into the HOSPITAL Wednesday, in shock, with a terrible infection. I was in grave danger at that point. After 2 days on strong IV antibiotics, morphine and 2 surgery consults, I was told I would need surgery because the infection was in the muscles of my arm. Only by the grace of God was I spared from surgery.

I'm now out of the hospital, but on 12 pills a day for the next month. I was away from my children (who are special needs) for 4 days, and I will need to worry about infection for the rest of my life. Not to mention the hospital bills. This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. You don't think this will happen to you, UNTIL IT DOES. This is my 10th tattoo, I have never had an infection, and care for my tattoos meticulously. This was a matter of poor sanitation, NOT poor home care, as the owner likes to preach.

If you see questionable practices, SPEAK UP! I didn't, and it almost cost me my arm and life. Had I not gone to the ER, I would have become septic and likely have died in my sleep.

My children are traumatized, as am I. All because she didn't take the time to put on clean gloves throughout our session.

I wanted to have a lot more work done by her, now I'll never be able to get tattooed again. Once you have MRSA, you have to be cautious for the rest of your life.

Please be cautious and take your health seriously. Research your tattoo shop! I didn't, because I'd been there in 2002. Had I looked up reviews, this could have all been avoided.
