Horrible experience! I cannot believe they let our poor dog Coco suffer! We recently changed to VCA and they ran some blood work on Coco. They knew for 5 days that Coco had acute kidney failure and they never called us!!! They let Coco suffer until he got so bad we had to bring him in to the emergency room and leave him for a few days(cost us a fortune). That should have been our first warning but we continued with VCA. After he came home he had numerous issues. We brought him back for vomiting and no appetite. They prescribed a medicine for him and told me to go to the pharmacy to get it… I went to all the pharmacies in Portsmouth and no one had it. I called VCA numerous times and they did not call back. Finally when they did they promised to call a compounding pharmacy and they would call me back immediately. I waited a day and no call so I called VCA again and on second call finally got the number of the pharmacy. Called pharmacy and they said VCA called in the prescription too late and it would not be ready until after Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. I went online and found some substitutes so I called VCA again and emailed the information… NO ONE CALLS BACK!!! (do you see a pattern here)
Over that weekend Coco became very sick again and we had to bring him back to VCA. After we paid lots of money they suddenly had the prescription in stock!! They gave him something for the vomiting also. I asked why they did not do this before and the answer was I don’t know but here it is now!
I wanted to bring the lack of follow up to a manager… I was promised multiple times that Josh would call me back… he never did. Even when we told them we were going to another vet he still did not call back! I had to have someone at the front desk track him down and call me… he said he would review the issue and call me back on Tuesday… I AM STILL WAITING ON THE CALL BACK!!! I believe that he does not call back because they know they did something very wrong and don’t want to admit to it.
We took Coco to Ocean Valley Vet and he is doing very well! The doctor calls us to follow up or just to check in (even on weekends)! VCA needs to learn from him!

I am too sad to write too much at this time. I totally agree with Peter M on his review. They do not call back and have an excuse for their incompetency. I'm sure they are fine if your pet is healthy. But if you have a sick pet, DO NOT GO THERE. They do not care, they do not call you back with results. I have never had such a bad experience. I believe they do not communicate with each other so how could they possibly communicate with you. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE. Your pet has one life and deserves so much better than what they could ever offer you!
