The South Placer Municipal Utility District, also known as SPMUD, provides sewer collection and maintenance services for the city of Rocklin; town of Loomis; community of Penryn; and Granite bay in California. It was established in 1956 as the Rocklin-Loomis Municipal Utility District (RLMUD). The department service area covers more than 15,500 acres of land with over 18,000 utility connections in nearly 25,500 equivalent dwelling units. It operates through various divisions that work to meet the utilities-related needs of individuals, businesses and industrial clients. The South Placer Municipal Utility District conducts inspections for the installation of public sewer facilities, as well as offers design, planning and construction administration services for sanitary cesspit systems. It manages a sewage collection system that includes approximately 235 miles of pipe with more than 5,000 manholes and over five pump stations. The department partners with the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Clean Water Association, and California Water Environment Association.
