The department administers boating trails and aquatic pest control programs. The Department of Boating and Waterways offers yacht and ship broker licensing services. It conducts a life jacket loan program and boating safety classes. The department also administers a boating safety and enforcement equipment grant program. The Department of Boating and Waterways provides vessel pumpout and aquatic center grants. It offers training courses for law enforcement officers, lifeguards and harbor patrol officers. The Department is a part of the government of the State of California.
