Ballet San Antonio Academy, formerly Mayra Worthen Ballet School, was established in 1984. The name change to Ballet San Antonio Academy came with the building of a new state of the art dance studio. The Academy, under the direction of Mayra Worthen, offers a professional training program in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern and Hip Hop for those students wanting to pursue a career in dance, as well as a recreational program for those who want to dance for fun or exercise. Ballet San Antonio Academy is also home to a Pre-Professional dance company, San Antonio Youth Ballet.The faculty of Ballet San Antonio Academy is made up of professionals who encourage artistic growth in their students. These teachers have proven their ability to train professional dancers, and their goal is to continue the reputation for excellence for which the school has been noted since its inception.
