- Paternity
- Premarital AgreementThe Texas Family Code provides that individuals who intend to marry can enter into a written contract regarding any rights and obligations in any property they own and the disposition of the property on separation, divorce, death, and modification or elimination of spousal support and other purposes more specifically detailed in the Texas Family Code. Under no circumstances can the premarital agreement adversely affect the right of a child to support.
- Spousal SupportA court in a pending divorce may order temporary maintenance from one spouse to the other until a divorce is granted. Post-divorce maintenance may be awarded by a court within certain limits provided by the Texas Family Code. As an example, the maximum amount of alimony which may be ordered is $3,000.00 per month, for a period of three (3) years, unless there are extraordinary circumstances such as a party being unemployable or disabled.
