      Home Start, founded in 1972 and headquartered in San Diego, is a private, nonprofit organization that offers a variety of support and counseling services mainly for children. The organization provides services to children at home, school and in the community. It also offers various services, including family support, therapeutic and counseling, family self-sufficiency, and adolescent services. Home Start has branches at several locations, such as San Diego, El Cajon, Escondido and Oceanside, Calif. The organization also has several child abuse prevention programs. It also offers youth services, including vocational training, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, counseling on pregnancy and sexual behavior, and services that help boost self-esteem and image.
