      General Info
      The University of California is a public, four-year, coeducational university located in Santa Barbara, Calif. The university offers degrees and majors in a wide range of subjects, including computer science, psychology, mathematics, history, and business, management and marketing. Additionally, it offers academic programs in physical sciences, philosophy and religion, and communications and journalism. The university has a foreign language and literature department that offers classes in various languages, such as Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, linguistics, Portuguese, Russian, Slavic and Spanish. Its athletic department offers a variety of sports activities, including baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, racquetball, soccer, softball, volleyball, and track and field. The library provides various resources that include journals, encyclopedias, newspapers, periodicals, magazines, and Internet access. The University of California also offers distance-learning programs.
