I was surprised to read some poor reviews, considering we've been going to this place for years. It's only open until 2pm, and jam packed, especially on weekends. Expect to wait and be patient - there is free coffee (and sometimes hot cocoa for your kids if you're friendly) and when staffed, the outdoor bar serves up mimosas, bloody marys and the coveted breakfast beer. Food is great, expect generous portions and there's always a special. Menu is broad, includes fresh ingredients and the staff clearly has a good time. Our family loves the brunch.

Home fries burnt 9 out of 10 visits. Side's of link sausage (Chicken apple, pork, etc..) always burnt on one side. Walked into the restaurant on three different occasions at less than 5 min to closing, with over a dozen tables already seated, and was told by hostess, busboy, and waitress that they were closing in two minutes. On each occasion we watched orders continue to come into the kitchen from other tables, and takeout orders, after we were browbeat into ordering as quickly as we could. On each occasion busboy's tried to clear our table of condiments (ketchup, salt, pepper, jam, etc..) prior to our finishing eating, without even asking us if we were done with them. Waitress brought check moments after food was delivered from table. We've written about these problems on the back of the check repeatedly and obviously no one cares.

This restaurant has been a part of the Santa Cruz community for a number of years. Beautiful outdoor venue with flavorful food! My favorite is the Carne Asada Omlette with homefries. My last visit (1/19/06) was superb... a courteous wait staff and delicious Bloody Mary's on a gorgeous Santa Cruz day.... Cannot beat it! Thanks Harbor Cafe!!!

Now under new ownership. Max Corwin and Dan Voskaboynikov are friendly and eager to please. Expect some changes and upgrades in food and service in a couple months.
