The compound was once the best board shop on the west coast. The focus on the customer and customer satisfaction was second to none. But that all died with the expansion of the store. They have now become their own enemy by forgetting what was important. It's not about the sport anymore. It's about the money. Instead of helping you find that perfect hat, board, shirt, or pair of shoes. They would rather chat it up with fellow coworkers, stuff their face with food, or be busy on their phones. This observation is not a one time occasion as I've been going to the compound since 2003 when they first opened. My love for the shop grew as they put on events and gave back to the community more than any boardshop has ever done before them. I know this because I was born and raised in sarasota in 1985. To put this in a nutshell, the compound has lost their connection with the customer and will lose their "premier" status as long as they continue to hire unprofessional and non knowledgeable personnel.
