I would have given Five Star Brick Pavers, and Tom Borchert, a zero-star rating, but this site forces a minimum rating of one star. If you are thinking of hiring Five Star Brick Pavers I strongly suggest you check them out with the Better Business Bureau, read my below review, and read what others have to say about them online. Pay attention to the bad reviews, I think you will see a pattern. I would also suggest going to https://secure.sarasotaclerk.com/Search.aspx and searching for just Five Star where you can see all the law suits that have been filed against Five Star. Keep in mind at this site that Five Star Brick Pavers, Tom Borchert and Five Star Renovations are one in the same. If enough of you contact me we can go to the state, and county, licensing boards to have his contractor’s license revoked.

Tom called our office at approximately 2:30pm on the afternoon of May 5, 2014 asking us to perform some emergency repairs. The repairs were for an irrigation system they had damaged and he needed it done right away. We dispatched one of our Technicians and had him to the property just before 4:00pm that same day. The repairs were completed that evening and we invoiced him for the repairs. In our normal follow-up call a few days after service Tom thanked us for our quick response, said he would use us again and praised our Technician. TO DATE, OVER FOUR YEARS LATER, WE HAVE NOT BEEN PAID FOR OUR SERVICE! SprinklerWorks bent over backwards for Tom, to get him out of a jam, and that is how he thanks us. I have a saved voice mail from Tom on 7-30-14 where he states that "we will get a check right out to you".

In late July of 2018 I posted several bad reviews of Five Star Brick Pavers on line. In retaliation to those reviews Tom Borchert Posted a bad review of SprinklerWorks where he made several false claims and allegations. He then had the nerve to come storming into our office screaming, cussing, yelling and making threats if we did not remove the reviews. On August 1, 2019 I sent Tom a text message where I told Tom I would accept the amount of our original invoice (less accumulated interest). He agreed to that and removed the bad review(s) and asked me to do the same. On August the 6th I replied to our text message string and told Tom I have removed the bad reviews of Five Star Brick Pavers. It is now 10 days later, and we have not received the certified check Tom promised.

I suspect that Tom will again post bad reviews of SprinklerWorks online. This will be in retaliation to the bad reviews we are reposting regarding our experience with Tom Borchert and Five Star Brick Pavers.

I would like to warn everyone to stay very, very far away from this business.

We are very happy with the turnout of our pool deck paver remodel project. In addition, Tom built a substantial retaining wall to expand our existing deck which allowed for better use of space in a limited area. Not only does deck look great, but space is now more functional. Although job took some time to complete, the end result was a professional job as promised and communication was active once the job was underway. I would recommend Five Star Brick Pavers for superior quality work and retaining wall additions. They are a company you can trust to do business with.

Had a great experience... Five Start installed a large paver driveway. I had a complicated pattern and it turned out awsome. I have no problem recommending them to anyone. James G.
