- Wrongful DeathThroughout the course of his career, Jeff has tried over 100 civil jury trials to verdict, an impressive accomplishment that is rare even among experienced trial lawyers. Jeff has represented hundreds of people who were injured as a result of motor vehicle collisions, motorcycle collisions, unfair treatment by insurance companies, wrongful death, and legal malpractice.
- Sex CrimesA sexual assault is one of the most horrifying and damaging experiences that a person can suffer. In some cases, the sexual assault is committed by a rideshare driver (Uber, Lyft, etc.) while in other cases the sexual assault is committed by a person who holds a professional title (teacher, mental health therapist, doctor, dentist, lawyer, etc.) or by a person who holds a position of authority (church, school, youth group, etc.). Other sexual assaults are committed by a family member, friend, or neighbor.

- Premises LiabilityWashington law requires property owners to keep their property reasonably safe for people who are allowed to be on their property. This applies to both residential and commercial property. However, the law is quite complicated, and each case depends on the specific facts of the case. These cases are difficult, but we have years of experience in handling these cases. We know the law and we know how to litigate these cases. We know how to get you the fair and full compensation you deserve if you are injured on someone else’s property.
- Property DamageOur legal fees for personal injury cases are paid on a contingency basis.  This means that we receive a percentage of what we are able to recover for you without advance payment. We are not paid by the hour and “the meter†is not ticking.  In many cases, we don’t charge any fee for resolving “property damage†claims – the claims related to the damage or destruction of your car. This fee structure enables you to be able to afford a level of expertise and experience that you otherwise might not be able to pay for at a stressful time in your life. Contingency fees give you access to the courts and are another way that we facilitate personalized service with our clients – you can contact us when you have questions without worrying about extra fees.
- Personal InjuryDid you know that your automobile insurance may protect you if you are struck by a car while riding your bike?  If you have the right kind of coverage ( Personal Injury Protection “PIP† and/or Uninsured Motorist “UIM†), you may be able to use your own insurance to pay your medical bills while you recover from your bike accident. You may also be able to use your own insurance to compensate you for your injuries if the car that hit you was uninsured or did not have enough insurance.
- Medical MalpracticeWe used the firm of Nelson Boyd, and were represented by Deborah Nelson and Jeffery Boyd in our lawsuit against an attorney who mis-handled our earlier medical malpractice cases. In both our underlying cases we had received inadequate compensation for our injuries and received an amount way below what other, similar, cases had been settled for by other attorneys. Nelson Boyd helped us receive equitable compensation in mediation just before trial. They were responsive to our questions and kept us informed throughout the two-year process. It was great working with this firm.

- Social Security DisabilitySocial Security Disability – Most insurance policies (especially group policies) require that you apply for Social Security Disability benefits and appeal (when/if you are denied) – and that you have an “offset†for those benefits against your long term disability insurance benefits. This means that you get money from two different sources, but you only get about 65% of your regular salary – you don’t get to “double dip†and get the full amount of both benefits. Some older policies do not have Social Security Disability requirement. These policyholders don’t have to apply for Social Security Disability benefits and, if they do, there is no offset, so they get the full amount of both!
- Dog BitesContrary to popular belief, there is no “one free bite†in Washington.  The owner of an animal that attacks you may be liable to you for injuries caused by their animal, even if it has never attacked anyone before. Animal attacks cause visible injuries and scars and sometimes even result in death. Insurance issues often complicate the picture.
