PLEASE BEWARE
Appointment date 4/10/13, I was referred to Heritage Wound Care Clinic by my primary care doctor, Doctor. I had dropped a tool box on my leg and developed a rash. Dr. Lana S. Beavers came into the room, pointed at my leg while laughing and said that she didn't understand why I was sent there, that it was eczema. She never ran any tests to conclude that my rash was in fact, eczema. Dr. Beavers asked her nurse to take a picture of it. She then wrote a prescription for some cream and out the door we went. My wife accompanied me during my visit with Dr. Beavers. I received a bill in the mail for $133.87 from Dr. Lana Beavers and another bill from Heritage Medical Center for $422.87. I paid the bill for $133.87. I then called my insurance company about the bill for $422.87 and was told that I didn't owe that amount and that it had been taken care of. I kept receiving bills for the amount of $422.87, so I inquired about the bill again from my insurance company and was told a second time that I didn't owe anything and not to pay it. I was told by my insurance company that it would take a little time for the bill to cycle off the system and just to ignore it. Then on 11/07/13, months later, I get another bill for $331.59. So I called a third time about the new bill and am told that now, I have to pay this amount. I called my insurance company a fourth time and was told that the hospital changed the billing code from a clinic visit to an out-patient visit. I never went to the hospital which is down the street. I went to a clinic located in a strip mall-like setting, and the only "services" that were rendered were the doctor coming in and not taking my condition seriously and then sending me out the door. I have also found out that the billing was changed to a code 5, so i inquired about what this entails and was told it was for a wound scrub/cleaning and bandaging. This NEVER happened, no one ever touched it. I picked up the medical records on 12/7/13 and was told by Holly Evens in the records department that they never changed the billing, that it was BCBS that changed it and that is why I'm now receiving a bill. She told me that the hospital had nothing to do with the billing being changed. So, now im really confused. My insurance said it was the hospital that changed the billing. So i was told by someone from BCBS to file a grievance. Well i filed that and received the results from my grievance back today saying we have to pay the charges.

So to sum it all up. Doctor walks in points at my leg... laughs ... says.. why did they send you here that is eczema... never touching it or running any test.. takes a picture... writes a prescription. Out the door .... receiving bills totaling first time for a total of $556.74 then 7 Months later changes it to a total of $465.46.... Now this is after BCBS has paid their part so this is what I have to pay out of pocket.

i.e., A local favorite, or highly recommended becauseBEWARE: My husband dropped a toolbox on his leg and later developed a rash.. Was sent to this clinic by his doctor. The doctor came into the room looked at it. Never touching it or running any kind of test. Told her nurse to take a picture for her records. Wrote a prescription and out the door we went. Billed our insurance for a clinic visit and was told we owe nothing by our insurance. This was in April. For several Months we received a bill for $433.87. Called our insurance who said you dont owe that. So now its October and we received a different bill. With an adjusted bill now saying we owe $331.59. I called the insurance co to see what was going on. The clinic changed the bill and resubmitted a bill for out patient services now saying we owe the $332.59. I just want to get this out there so maybe it wont happen to anyone else. I am disputing this. This was not right.
