- MisdemeanorsYes. According to Michigan law, if a dog meets the definition of a dangerous animal and attacks or bites a person, causing an injury that is not a serious injury, the owner of the animal can be found guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by imprisonment for up to 90 days, a fine of between $250 and $500, or 240 hours of community service work, or any combination of these penalties.
- MurderIn addition to car accidents, bicycle accidents, police misconduct, defective products, medical malpractice, murder, truck accidents, aviation accidents, premises liability, boating accidents, and pedestrian accidents are grounds for wrongful death cases.
- ManslaughterIf a dangerous dog causes the death of a person, the owner can be found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. If a dangerous dog attacks a person and causes serious injury other than death, the owner of the animal can be found guilty of a felony, punishable by imprisonment for up to 4 years, a fine of up to $2,000, or 500 hours of community service work, or any combination of these penalties.
- Workers CompensationIf you were injured on the job, you should report the accident immediately to your employer. Failure to do so may result in not being able to collect workers compensation benefits in Michigan. If your employer or insurance carrier refuses to pay you the benefits or medical expense payments you are entitled to, or you are denied extended or permanent disability after suffering a significant disabling injury on the job, it is in your best interest to consult with an attorney that handles workers compensation cases on a regular basis.
- Premises LiabilityUnder Michigan premises liability laws, property owners and managers have what is known as a duty of care to make sure their property is properly maintained to prevent injuries to others and to fix unsafe conditions in a timely manner. If they fail to do so and you are injured due to this negligence, you may have a valid slip and fall case.

But for people whose job it is to provide healthcare, any negligence has the potential to cause illness, injury, or death.

- Social Security DisabilitySOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY: When you are the victim of an accident or suffer an illness that keeps you from working again, you may need temporary or permanent disability benefits. Pursuing Social Security Disability benefits (SSDI) can be complicated, as many claims are initially denied. Working with an experienced SSD benefits lawyer can help improve your chances of getting approved the first time around.
- Dog BitesDog bites:Â Being the victim of a dog bite can be frightening. Even well trained, trusted dogs can injure someone by biting them.
- Slip and Fall InjuryProperty owners in Michigan have a duty to make sure that their property is safe for the people they invite there, whether it is for business or just a simple social call. Unfortunately, some property owners do not take that responsibility seriously and allow conditions such as slick surfaces, broken walkways, uneven paths, and unmarked spills to exist, resulting in slip and fall injuries on their property. Slip and fall accidents can cause a variety of injuries, including spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, severe lacerations, broken bones, concussions, and even death.
