Great place favored by locals. Food good, especially brisket. Pleasant ambience with peanuts to eat on while waiting and just toss shells on floor. Waitstaff always friendly for me. Usually eat here once or twice a month

We usually eat at Double Z's every year when we visit Steamboat. This year we decided to try something different and stopped in at Steamboat Smokehouse. We will definately be returning to Double Z's next year. The food was horrible! I was concerned when our order came out a mere five minutes after we placed it. You expect that kind of time at McDonalds but at a BBQ joint?? Well we soon learned why. Some of our chicken seemed as though it had been sitting under warming lamps all day while others were raw. The pulled pork was dry and had absolutely no flavor, and the ribs were just okay. To top it off, two of the four adults in our party got sick as soon as we left!Save yourself time and money and skip this place!

Either they were having a bad night...or they need to get a makeover FAST. Our order took 40 minutes at 8PM! Waitress said the avocado was frozen and they had to thaw it. ??? HA! There was barely a rub of avocado on the turkey sandwich anyway. The brisket was good, the potatoes were amateur, the coleslaw was major plain and the beans were from a can (IN A BBQ PLACE!). A staff member was even complaining about having to be there "as a favor" and doing everything. Once I asked for my ticket the waitress ran my card and *tossed* the tray on the table. No thanks for coming in...or "thanks" as we were leaving. I think she was expecting on getting stiffed because of the service, but we tipped her 15% anyway because she did apologize for the wait...oh well. NOT the norm for Steamboat Springs! We'll never eat there again.
