ShoreTel, located in Sunnyvale, Calif., designs, manufactures and markets network-based voice communications systems for medium- to small-sized businesses throughout the United States. Its CrystaLAN system, based on Internet Protocol, serves as an alternative to expensive, proprietary PBX, Centrex and Key systems. Its Shoreline Communication System straddles the traditional and IP-based telephony worlds, with traditional telephone trunking and extensions bound together over an IP network backbone.
